Which USI Affinity Travel Insurance Product is Right for You?
Travel insurance – it’s not quite like picking out an outfit for date night, figuring out the right hairstyle for yourself, or even choosing an entrée at a fancy restaurant. Indeed, it’s far more complicated. With so many insurance companies out there using elaborate names for their travel insurance products and language that’s not exactly easy to understand, it can quickly become mindboggling for you to figure out exactly what it is that you’re buying when selecting a travel insurance policy.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a guide that could help you decipher all the insurance jargon and make an informed decision about what insurance product would be perfect for you?
There is!
That’s precisely what we’ve put together for you. Although we can’t go too in-depth about other companies’ products, we can really get down to the last detail regarding our own products. So without further ado, here’s the go-to guide for understanding USI Travel Insurance Services.
Travel Insurance Select
Are you part of a travel group that’s going on a trip lasting less than 30 days? Are you a U.S. resident? And is your main concern being able to cancel your trip should an emergency arise? If you answered yes to all these questions, our Travel Insurance Select travel insurance product is probably the best choice for you. When you go to the Select webpage, you will be asked to scroll through and choose the group you’re traveling with, as well as details about your trip, after which you can get a quote, and then purchase a policy right there!
Trip Care Complete
So let’s say you pretty much fit the bill of the Travel Insurance Select policyholder. You’re a U.S. resident, you’re going on a trip that lasts less than 30 days, and you’re also looking for similar benefits to those included in the Travel Insurance Select plan – namely Trip Cancellation. There’s just one catch – you’re traveling independently rather than as part of a group travel organization. Also, you are looking for these benefits at a lower price point than is found in the Select plan. If this sounds like you, you should check out our Trip Care Complete product.
WorldMed Insurance
If you’re going to a foreign country for an extended business project, or as a visiting scholar for a semester, you should consider WorldMed Insurance. This insurance plan is meant for any inbound (foreign citizens traveling to the U.S.) or outbound (U.S. citizens traveling abroad) travelers who are traveling outside of their home country for an extended period of time. What distinguishes this product from some of our other products is that it is mainly meant for those who want reassurance that they will have comprehensive healthcare coverage, wherever they may be in the world.
InterMedical Insurance
Oftentimes, the InterMedical Insurance product and our previously mentioned WorldMed Insurance product can easily get confused with each other. After all, the product names both mention “medical” and they are both meant for insureds traveling outside of their home country. But there is one main difference, which is that InterMedical Insurance is a more affordable option, especially for outbound travelers.
Study USA-HealthCare
This product is one of our most straightforward products to understand. If you’re a non-U.S. resident who is either planning to come to the United States to study, or perhaps go to another country to study, then Study USA-Healthcare is the correct choice. The main purpose of this product is to offer health insurance coverage to students who will be studying in a foreign country. Coverage is offered for up to 364 consecutive days, and the policy can be renewed up to 4 years – the average time it takes for college students to complete their Bachelor’s degrees.
Visit USA-HealthCare
Let’s say you’re the parent of one of these students who have come to the United States to pursue their studies, and you want to visit them. Or let’s say you’re a resident of India, and you want to come visit your son in the United States for the first time since he found a job and settled there. If you fit one of these examples and are visiting the United States, you should look into Visit USA-HealthCare Visitors Insurance. Much like Study USA-Healthcare, this product focuses on offering health insurance coverage to visitors of the U.S., as healthcare can get very pricey if one doesn’t have insurance in this country.
Worldwide Group Protector
This is the one that stands out amongst the rest of our insurance products. Worldwide Group Protector has an interesting function. Unlike the traditional travel insurance product, which you may generally purchase either for yourself, your family, or even a few friends, Worldwide Group Protector is more of a bulk purchase, if you will. If you’re traveling with a group of 5 or more, say, for a family reunion or a private group vacation, then this is the insurance product you want to check out. Also, if you’re a small business, such as a tour operator or travel agent organizing packaged trips, Worldwide Group Protector is the ideal choice so you can get all your travelers under the same safety net.

DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! We bought USI Travel Insurance for a trip to Europe. Getting off the plane in London, I torn my meniscus in knee and waited a few days unable to walk anywhere, hoping it would get better. After a week I called USI who told me since it was not life threatening to go back to US and file claim which I did. The orthopedic doctor confirmed torn meniscus and knee will be replaced in a couple of weeks. My claim was denied. No help suggested getting to Dr or airplane change - British Air charged us an additional $4600 for return trip plus hotels. We had to cancel trips to Israel, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin!! Don't use this company!!!
